The 2018 Detroit Auto Show will be on us in just two weeks time making sure that January 13 to 15 will be packed with new vehicle debuts.
Volkswagen will show a new Jetta and Honda will show a new Insight, and we won’t be there to see either one! That’s because we only care about things that crawl and haul around here and luckily, there will be plenty for us to talk about at this year’s Detroit show.

Both Ram and Chevrolet will be showing all-new half-ton pickup trucks while the Mercedes booth will display an all-new G-Class. A fresh-faced Jeep Cherokee will also debut under the lights, while the return of the new Ford Ranger is scheduled for the Motor City show as well.

2019 Chevy Silverado
Chevrolet surprised us at a special event in Dallas, Texas in mid-December by showing off the new Silverado Z71 Trail Boss model, but we could only look it the truck from a distance. At the upcoming Detroit Auto Show, all the details will be revealed on Chevy’s new all-important Silverado.

Weight loss is expected thanks to the use of new lightweight materials, while a new diesel engine is also expected in the new half-ton from Chevrolet.
2019 Ram 1500
Chevy’s cross-town rivals at Ram will also show a brand new pickup truck, trying to steal sales away from Ford’s venerable F-150, once again the best selling pickup last year.

The 2019 1500 is expected to debut with a number of innovations, like a split tailgate, that should help to set it apart. Weight savings is also a likely factor, though it isn’t clear yet if Ram will turn to aluminum like Ford.
2019 Mercedes G-Class
An all-new Mercedes G-Class doesn’t come around very often and the new version that will debut in Detroit will bring some of the biggest changes in the history of the model thanks to the introduction of independent front suspension. Don’t expect the styling of the G to change all that much though.

And like G-Classes of the past, the new G will no doubt still be ready to tackle the toughest terrain.
2019 Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger is coming back and we don’t have long to wait now until we get to the see the new midsize pickup in the sheet metal. Based on spy shots, the new Ranger will be roughly the same size as the Chevy Colorado, and we already know that a Raptor version has been developed for worldwide markets, so expect to see that in North America sometime after launch.

Ford may use the direct-injected twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 as the premium choice in the new pickup, while a turbocharged four-cylinder is also a possibility. Ford’s new ten-speed automatic, co-developed with GM, is also expected.
2019 Jeep Cherokee
If you never liked the look of the modern Jeep Cherokee, maybe the 2019 version will win you over. Jeep has massaged the looks of its small crossover to give it modern appeal and the slightly smaller front grille will probably win over more folks in the design department.
