One of the knocks on Jeep Wranglers for the last twenty-five years has been the placement of its third brake light. Tucked behind the spare tire, popping up like a gopher on groundhog day, it can quickly be moved out of the line-of-sight of other drivers if the Jeep owner decides to fit a lift kit … as most Wrangler owners are wont to do.
This new product from Rugged Ridge aims to solve that conundrum by crafting a circular LED third brake light which mounts behind the spare tire. Ninety-three LEDs light up like the burner on a hot stove, visible through the rim of the Wrangler’s spare wheel. It’s designed to fit Wranglers dating all the way back to 1987 and has an MSRP of $93.99.
Just in case your 2017 Ford Raptor isn’t extreme enough for you already, FOX has developed an off-road race inspired upgraded shock package for the second generation Raptor. The Factory Race Series upgrade kit for the 2017+ Raptor is designed to take the truck’s off-road performance to another level by adding significant adjustability and improved cooling efficiency without compromising every day ride quality.
Rather than simply increasing the shock size, which would increase harshness, FOX developed an all-new finned aluminum reservoir for the front shocks which increase cooling capacity and efficiency. They’re mated to gnarly Dual Speed Compression adjusters. Out back, the position-sensitive damping is externally adjustable via Quick Adjust Bypass knobs, allowing separate adjustment of the shock’s two compression and two rebound bypass zones by hand. Internal & external aluminum fins increase cooling surface area & heat dissipation. Find them at a local retailer or online at FOX’s website.
Chassis cab trucks are conscripted for a variety of duties, so Hellwig products out of California has created an aftermarket sway bar for Ram Chassis Cab trucks which promises to improve handling and control under tough conditions. These trucks lack a rear sway bar from the factory, so Hellwig offers this 1 1/4-inch solid rear sway bar designed specifically for heavy duty towing applications.
This bolt-on upgraded bar is forged from Chromoly steel, heat treated for durability, and features a forged 3-hole adjustable end to tuning of the bar to a specific load and driving style. Anyone with a set of hand tools and a bit of know-how should be able to install this bar on their Ram Chassis Cab truck in a matter of hours. The kit comes with all necessary parts and hardware.
The Elite Fast Track system from Rugged Ridge has been around for awhile. It is an innovative system that incorporates channels that extend the length of the A-pillars allowing for infinite adjustability and configurability of off-road lights, trail mirrors, cameras and accessories. With a simple turn of a wrench, the mounts can be reconfigured, added or removed based on changing conditions or varying needs.
Now, Rugged Ridge has introduced a massive 50-inch light bar which works in tandem with the Elite Fast Track series. Usinghigh qualityaluminium for the A-pillar sections and upper crossbar, this well builtlight houses 96 LEDs to provide illuminationrivalling that of a star going supernova. A durable textured black powder coat caps off the look. Find it at an authorized retailer or on the Rugged Ridge website for $566.99.
Sticking with Rugged Ridge, the company now offers its All-Terrain Floor Liners for the 2017-Up Ford Super Duty trucks. Some floor liners are constructed from an extruded sheet of plastic, but Rugged Ridge’s All Terrain Floor Liners are injection-molded for floor protection and durability. Each liner features “Deep Tread Technology” with 3/8-inch deep grooves which aggressively channel debris and moisture.
These floor liners were specifically developed with the off-roader and outdoorsman in mind, or anyone with great muddy boots, for that matter. A pair of these liners for the front floor of your new Super Duty will set you back about $120, and cost about the same for a rearset.
Rigid Industries has been selling LED light products to off-road and powersport enthusiasts for years and now they’re making a big enhancement to their catalog with the introduction of their PRO series. With its name standing for Professional Race Output, these light will benefit from snazzy new LED technology which will reportedly deliver up to 170% more light output than the previous models.
Rather than simply throw a bunch of LEDs into a rectangular-shaped bar or square cube and call it a day, RIGID offers different combinations of illumination styles, such as their Spot/Hyperspot products and SpotDrive line which focus the LED light in different ways, allowing customers to choose the light bar that will best suit their needs.
Offered in a variety of styles from small cube lights to large bars, RIGID’s new PRO series of off-road lights is ready to illuminate the dark side of the moon, or simply the murky part of your favorite trail. A cleverly named ‘Own the Night’ sales promotion is on at RIGID until the middle of November 2017.
