The internet has been awash with spy photos of the upcoming 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Mild hybrids, eight-speed automatics, and a slightly more modern look will define the next body-on-frame Wrangler, while a production model will show up in late November of this year.
Until then, the aftermarket remains hot for the current JK. From model-specific recovery gear to lift kits that laugh in the face of rocky Moab trails, there is no shortage of products to hoover cash from a Jeeper’s wallet.
Part of an enormous independent manufacturer and wholesaler of Jeep parts and accessories, Rugged Ridge now has a new hood bra designed to fit JK and JKU Wranglers from 2007 to the current model year. Sure, a day of off-road wheeling is great but stray rocks ricocheting off the engine cover is a guaranteed to ruin your paint if not your day. Covering your hood with durable crush grain vinyl fills your cup with a bit of extra insurance.
The triangular one-piece design makes it an easy install, wrapping over the lip of the engine cover before being secured to the JK’s hood footman loop. A soft lining on the underside of the bra shields the Jeep’s paint from scuffs and scratches while simultaneously protecting the vehicle from debris.
Since the bra is designed specifically for the Wrangler JK, it won’t interfere with factory or aftermarket hood catches and can be removed quickly (unless it’s your first time removing a bra and you’re nervous). Offered with a five-year warranty, it’ll be available online and at major retailers of off-road accessories.
