Rob MacCachren appears to be picking up where he left off last year, as the 2016 SCORE Baja 1000 winner was fastest in qualifying for this weekend’s SCORE San Felipe 250. MacCachren is a three-time winner of the race.
MacCachren was the quickest Trophy Truck racer on the 4-mile qualifying course with a time of 5 minutes, 14.43 seconds. He edged out Cameron Steele (5:22.28), Apdaly Lopez (5:24.14), BJ Baldwin (5:24.23) and Luke McMillin (5:25.74) to earn the pole for Saturday’s race.
In Class 1, Mike Malloy posted the fastest time (5:43.29), edging out second-place qualifier Tony Murray (6:00.77) and third fastest Matt Cullen (6:06.86).
The race will start Saturday morning at 6:20 a.m., with the motorcycle and ATV classes being the first off the line. The Trophy Trucks will then leave San Felipe at 9 a.m. to tackle the 271.9-mile course. Stay tuned for more coverage of this weekend’s race.
