BRP pulled the cover off its a new four-person Maverick X3 MAX side-by-side last night in Reno, Nevada. According to Can-Am, the Maverick X3 MAX features the same design as the standard X3 but in a multi-passenger design.
“The 2017 Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX side-by-side vehicle builds upon the industry-altering advancements achieved with the two-seat Maverick X3 unveiled last year by delivering new levels of performance, handling and passenger comfort to the four-seat segment of the market,” explained Anne-Marie LaBerge, senior vice president, Global Brands, Marketing and Communications at BRP. “It positions Can-Am to meet market demands for a clear leader in the four-person sport segment and adheres to our forward-thinking approach when it comes to innovation, design and refining the consumer experience.”

The new Maverick X3 MAX features Can-Am’s spacious Ergo-Lok cockpit and a longer chassis to fit four riders overall. All four seats are situated on the same height level to give every passenger a similar, low-in-the-cockpit experience. Each Ergoprint seats are four-way adjustable, while the rear seats have 2 inches of height adjustment and up to 4 inches of forward adjustment. Can-Am also notes the rear seats have up to 18% more seat pitch than the closest industry competitor for plenty of legroom.
The Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX feature the trophy-truck-inspired 4-link TTX rear suspension, with recalibrated FOX shocks offering 22 inches of rear travel on the Maverick X3 MAX X rs model. The front arched A-arms provide up to 14 inches of ground clearance. A full-length high-molecular-weight skid plate protects the underside of the vehicle. The chassis on the X3 MAX is constructed of a fully-welded DP980 steel to provide great rigidity, stiffer torsion and exceptional strength.
The Maverick X3 MAX vehicle has a 135-inch wheelbase Can-Am says is 15% longer (18”) than the closest competition. Can-Am also notes, “A quick-ratio steering system, next generation Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering, selectable driving modes and intelligent throttle control (iTC) contribute to the Maverick X3 MAX side-by-side vehicle’s and enhanced high-speed control.” The X3 Max features Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires that vary in size depending upon the model but are up to 30 inches in size.
The Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX is powered by a turbocharged and intercooled inline triple-cylinder Rotax ACE engine rated to produced 154 horsepower. It relies on three dedicated air intakes and a high-flow exhaust to create advanced airflow dynamics and help create a unique sound. The engine is mated to a QRS-X CVT transmission that Can-Am says “is calibrated to virtually eliminate turbo lag and enhance throttle response.”
The Can-Am Maverick X3 MAX family features three available packages that includes X3 MAX, X3 MAX X ds (both of which are 64 inches wide), while the Maverick X3 MAX X rs features a 72-inch width that offers two painted color options and is equipped with fully adjustable FOX 3.0 Podium RC2 bypass shocks.
