Polaris announced some new 2017 off-road models today, with the big side-by-side news being the expansion of Ride Command on General models.
Last summer, Polaris unveiled its new Ride Command feature on the RZR XP 1000 EPS Velocity Blue Limited Edition model, and it was also offered as an accessory for certain RZR vehicles. For 2017, Polaris is expanding this offering to its General lineup, and it is offering a new model in the Polaris General 1000 EPS Ride Command Edition Black Pearl.
The Ride Command system is designed to provide what Polaris calls “centralized, seamless device control,” designed to integrate mobile phones, camera and audio systems. The Ride Command system features a Ride Command mobile app and a weather-resistant, glove-touch Ride Command 7-inch display to control the system. The centralized display features GPS mapping, the ability to control Bluetooth connected music or AM/FM radio, controlling a GoPro camera and to receiving incoming phone texts. With the aid of the Ride Command app, the display also allows riders to track other riders in their group. The app will enable riders to map routes in advance while tracking and sharing their ride directly to their social feed.
In a press release announcing the new models, Polaris said, ”Pairing the unmatched adventure of Polaris General with Ride Command will elevate the user’s off-road experience by offering seamless integration of off-road technology, and the ability to chart and share adventures.”
The Polaris General 1000 EPS Ride Command Edition Black Pearl features the Ride Command 7-in. display and several accessories that integrate into the system including front and rear cameras, and a MTX Premium 8-Speaker Audio system. Other standard accessories include a front bumper, Polaris HD 4500 lb. Winch, Poly Sport Roof and Fox QS3 Shocks.
Polaris Engineered Accessories also is offering Ride Command 7-in display as an accessory for all Polaris General vehicles in spring of 2017. The new special edition model will be in Polaris dealerships by February.
Polaris also announced it will be bringing back its Ranger XP 900 EPS for 2017, which will features Silver Pearl automotive style paint, aluminum wheels and standard electronic power steering (EPS). Polaris will also be offering new RZR color options for 2017, including a RZR S 900 EPS Titanium Metallic, RZR 4 900 EPS Titanium Metallic, RZR S 1000 EPS Spectra Orange, RZR XP 1000 EPS White Lightning with Reflex Blue and a RZR XP 4 1000 EPS White Lightning with Reflex Blue.
