If you’re looking for a new ATV for your little dirt devil, Yamaha has some brand-new options available at its dealerships in the form of 2017 youth ATVs.
Just in time for the holiday season, Yamaha has a host of 2017 models that include the all-new YFZ50, which is aimed at ATV enthusiasts 6 years old and up, and new 2017 Raptor 90 model aimed at children 10 and up.
Yamaha says its youth ATVs are actually modeled after its “adult” models, like the championship-winning YFZ450R and Raptor 700R, though of course they are geared toward young riders who still need to learn the sport the right way… and with help from mom and dad.

“From additional parental control features, to a comfortable and stylish design, our 2017 lineup of youth ATVs provide options suitable for a wide range of skill levels among our youngest riders,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV / SxS group marketing manager. “With the all-new YFZ50 and Raptor 90, parents can feel confident introducing their children to the off-road world this holiday season.”
The YFZ50 is powered by what Yamaha hails as a “low-maintenance” 49.4cc engine with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). The YFZ50 is designed with parental control features including adjustable RPM and throttle limiters, as well as a tether switch capable of shutting off the engine from a pull-string.
The Yamaha Raptor 90 also features a CVT transmission but has a more powerful 89.9cc engine. The Raptor 90 features a single A-arm front suspension, mono-shock swingarm rear suspension and 18-inch tires. The Raptor 90 offers a little more space for growing kids with its wider seat and floorboards.
The 2017 YFZ50 is available in Team Yamaha Blue and White with a starting MSRP of $2,099. The 2017 Raptor 90 comes in two color options (Team Yamaha Blue and White, and White) with a starting MSRP of $2,899.
