When the dust settled and all of the stages were finally completed, America’s first all-female navigation rally has come to a close. As Rebelle Rally promoters described it, there were “ups-and-downs, triumphs and challenges; great days and bad days.” Now the results are in, and it was the #125 Jeep Wrangler JK of Charlene Bower and Kaleigh Hotchkiss who earned the overall victory. Bower and Hotchkiss edged out the team of Taylor Pawley and Micaela Windham in second place, while rounding out the podium in third place was the team of Nena Barlow and Kande Jacobsen.
Finishing in the Glamis Sand Dunes, with few distinguishable landmarks and difficult terrain to traverse, you could easily call this the most technical day of the Rebelle Rally. Few, if any, competitors didn’t get stuck in the steep, unpredictable sand dunes. But that didn’t stop every single Rebelle from finishing the landmark event.
“We’re proud of everyone and the challenges they’ve overcome to get to the finish line, but we’d especially like to congratulate Charlene Bower and Kaleigh Hotchkiss who have won the first-ever Rebelle Rally,” Rebelle Rally promoters claimed in the final release for the event. Be sure to check back for more information on the 2017 rally, as the first year was a roaring success and will likely be the start of many future all-female race events.
