This past weekend in Southern California, the Sand Sports Super Show celebrated its 18th year. It also was a notable year, as the ownership of the series was transferred from event promoter Don and Robin Murphy to Family Events, who also owns Off-Road Expo as well.

This year’s show was strong, proving that the sand market is alive and well in 2016. Not everything is the same at Sand Sports as it was in years past, though, as the market has shifted heavily toward UTVs and side-by-sides. There were of course still the occasional sand rails seen, but clearly the powersports market has taken ownership of the segment and tons of cool parts, new vehicles and custom builds were on display at this year’s show.
