Bryce Menzies is currently prepping for his latest challenge – breaking the current 332-foot off-road jump record this Saturday. Menzies has been preparing for this jump over the course of the past year, and with the support of sponsors Red Bull and Pennzoil, he and his team are ready to go.
We actually spoke with Menzies this week to talk about the event, his preparation, what changes his team made to the Pro 2 truck to prepare it to fly over a small town, and more. As Menzies told us yesterday, aside from using the jump to signify his move into his next frontier of overseas rally racing, he also sees it as a way to help promote the sport of off-road racing. “Seeing what Travis Pastrana and Robbie Maddison did before me just motivated me to elevate our sport,” he said. “We know what these trucks can do out on a race course, but in testing I wanted to know how far can we actually jump these trucks.”
Menzies and team have analyzed, planned, tested, adjusted and tested some more in the hopes of jumping his truck over a ghost town in New Mexico this weekend. Red Bull TV will actually air the event live on Saturday, August 27 at 3 p.m. EST, 12 p.m. PST. NBC will air a follow-up program the following say on Sunday at 2 p.m. EST / 11 a.m. PST.
