Crandon-Labor-Day-Weekend-Off-Road-8-24-15
CRANDON, WISC.
: Adding to a growing list of long-term corporate partnerships designed to ensure its long term-future, Crandon International Raceway today announced a new, three-year extension of its agreement with AMSOIL as “Official Lubricant” of the facility, as well as retaining title sponsorship to the sport of off-road racing’s richest race –- the annual Crandon AMSOIL Cup.

AMSOIL has been a major supporter of short-course off-road racing for years. This includes its current role as presenting sponsor of The Off Road Championship (TORC) series, which has two stops at Crandon International, including the upcoming 47th annual Crandon International Off-Road World Championship weekend scheduled for September 1-4, 2016 (Labor Day weekend).

The partnership with Crandon International began in 2009, with the Wisconsin-based oil company taking over title sponsorship of the prestigious Borg Warner Cup. Held as the spectacular finale on short-course off-road racing’s biggest weekend, this year’s 7th annual AMSOIL Cup will offer the winning driver an event record $47,000 in cash, with a total monetary purse of $58,000. The unique AMSOIL Challenge Cup format pits the fastest 24 unlimited PRO-4X4 and PRO-2WD trucks together on the track at the same time after a staggered start. This year’s event also offers the winner valuable prize packages from Lincoln Electric and MasterCraft/Impact Safety.

“AMSOIL considers its relationship with Crandon International Raceway as a cornerstone piece of our overall motorsports program,” said Race and Events Manager Jeremy Meyer. “The Big House is a very special place and we look forward to being part of that bright future.”

AMSOIL’s relationship with Crandon International Raceway also includes hospitality, dealer interaction and premiere signage including the AMSOIL Finish Line arch and the main facility sign placed alongside Wisconsin Highway 8.

For the first time in the track’s history, all PRO division racers will have the opportunity for substantial open track testing on Thursday, September 1st. Racing will kick-off Friday night after the traditional Labor Day parade in downtown Crandon at the Forest County Potawatomi Community “Night of Thunder.” The 2016 TORC champions–including PRO 4X4, PRO 2WD and Atturo Tire PRO-Light classes–will be decided on Sat., Sept. 3, as well as season championships and Crandon World Champions® crowned in the MORR (Midwest Off-Road Racing) TORC Sportsman divisions.

Sunday’s Crandon PRO World Championship racing will culminate in the 7th annual AMSOIL Cup. Last year, young phenom CJ Greaves took home the Cup victory.

Fans from around the country are expected to invade Crandon’s immense facility, which is set to grow by 100 acres (for a total of 500) and another 500 camping sites (for a total of 2,500) in 2017. The on-site camping is part of the true “Crandon Experience,” with family and friends coming back year after year. While many campsites are already reserved, fans can still enjoy Crandon camping on a first-come, first-served basis beginning on Wednesday, August 31 at noon CST.

“AMSOIL has been an important and special partner to Crandon International Raceway, to many of our racers and to the entire TORC series,” explained track President Cliff Flannery. “Today’s announcement is another strong step to the future of our facility and another important piece in helping us reach our long-term goals. We thank everyone at AMSOIL for their continued and enthusiastic support.”
