There’s just a little over two weeks remaining before the green flag drops on Best In The Desert’s 20th Anniversary General Tire Vegas to Reno The Long Way!!! presented by FOX and 335 race teams have already signed up to take on the “Longest Off-Road Race in the United States.” The impressive list of entries includes 48 Trick Trucks, 19 Unlimited Class 1500 Cars, 33 Class 6100 Spec Engine Trick Trucks, 65 UTVs, and 33 Ironman Motorcycle and Quad riders.
Casey Folks, director of Best In The Desert Racing Association, stated, “The Vegas to Reno event is the flagship race for Best In The Desert and I wanted something special for the 20th Anniversary of ‘The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States.’ Can you believe it, 2016 will be 20 years we have been promoting an off-road desert race over 500-miles long from Southern Nevada, Las Vegas, to Northern Nevada, Reno! Unbelievable!” He continued, “One of my biggest goals is to present a long distance multi-day event to a new generation of racers and fans. Jason Voss Earns Three-Peat in Vegas to Reno Victory
A surge of excitement and enthusiasm started to mount ever since the announcement last year of what has proved to be the most exciting, as well as one of the most challenging off-road races ever held in the United States. As always, with the General Tire Vegas to Reno The Long Way!!! presented by FOX, Best In The Desert will continue the tradition of outstanding efficiency in hosting the safest, the most fun, and the most challenging off-road racing adventures ever held. This year, it’s not only about the famous Vegas to Reno race, but also by popular demand, the 2016 event will be a two-day, 650-mile staged event.
Race Day One, sponsored by McMillin Racing, stops overnight in Tonopah, Nevada. Race Day Two, sponsored by KC HiLiTES, resumes in Tonopah Saturday morning, August 20th, and heads north and finishes in the town of Dayton, just south of Reno, Nevada. 335 race teams from the United States and 7 countries are already set to compete.
The General Tire Vegas to Reno The Long Way!!! presented by FOX race activities get started Wednesday, August 17, for the Trick Trucks and Unlimited Class 1500 Cars when they qualify for their starting positions at the Time Trails to compete for the $1000 “Team Ford” Pole Award.
Festivities continue in North Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, August 18, at the Aliante Casino Hotel. There, racers will continue signup and head through contingency and vehicle technical inspections where race fans will have the opportunity to see the most unbelievable collection of high-tech cars, trucks, motorcycles, quads and UTVs that are specially built for racing today.
The 2016 General Tire Vegas to Reno The Long Way presented by FOX will start early Friday morning, August 19th near Alamo, Nevada, northeast of Las Vegas. First off the line will be the Motorcycle classes followed by the Quads. After a substantial delay for safety reasons, the Car, Truck and UTV classes will head out in their quest for victory.
