Charlotte, North Carolina – Driver Matt Mingay, who was injured in the Stadium Super Truck Series (SST) race at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix on June 4, has been upgraded to fair condition as he remains hospitalized at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Mingay’s family reports that the Australian driver suffered facial and head injuries in the accident, along with a small fracture of his T1 vertebrae, and he continues to make progress in his recovery.
Mingay and his family remain hopeful that he will be released from hospital in the coming days, barring any setbacks, and he will travel home to his native Australia where he will continue his recovery.
