Shot in he same area Ford did the majority of its off-road testing for the first-generation F-150 Raptor, the blue oval just whet the appetites for all those clamoring for a better look at the new EcoBoost-powered 2017 Raptor with a new video.
Ford didn’t simply launch one video with its new off-road truck in action – it will actually launch six of them! For now, we only have the first video of the Raptor powering through the desert in Octotillo Wells in Southern California. The truck will be powered by a second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that the company says is more powerful than the previous V8 engine – 411 horsepower and 434 lb.-ft. of torque is what Ford claims. The engine will also be mated to Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission.
Ford is looking to highlight the upgrades to the F-150 platform since the last generation in the new video, which includes the use of an aluminum body to reduce weight by as much as 500 pounds. The 2017 Raptor will also feature larger Fox Racing Shox that Ford says provide more suspension travel than the previous generation.
The 2017 Raptor will be built at Ford’s Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan. The truck will be on sale in fall of this year. Ford also provided some insight into what we can expect with its upcoming videos, and below is a description of what each video will entail.
