RENO, Nev., USA — After 2,303.81 dusty and grueling desert racing miles, nine of the world’s best desert racers have survived the challenge of the five-race 2015 SCORE World Desert Championship to earn coveted 2015 Red Kap SCORE Milestone Awards. The nine racers, competing in six different classes in the series for cars, trucks, UTVs, motorcycles and quads, earned their prestigious honors by finishing every required mile in the World’s Foremost Desert Racing Series.

The 2015 SCORE World Desert Championship ended last week with the 48th Annual Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000 that started and finished in Ensenada, Mexico.

All nine drivers of record will receive their special awards Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Tech facility in El Cajon, just east of San Diego, during the annual SCORE Awards Night celebration of 42 years of SCORE desert racing honoring the 2015 SCORE World Desert Championship class point champions and the winners of the 2015 SCORE Off-Roadsman of the Year awards.

Leading the way in the chase for 2015 SCORE Milestone Awards are two superlative stallions in the featured SCORE Trophy Truck division along with two each in Class 10, Class 19 and in Class 40 (motorcycle riders over 40 years old).

“SCORE is privileged to honor the world’s best desert racing drivers,” said Roger Norman, SCORE CEO/President. “For three decades, SCORE has been very pleased to present the SCORE Milestone Awards to the toughest, most rugged racers on the planet. These nine survivors of five very tough races are examples of the tenacity that SCORE desert racers exude.”

The two SCORE Trophy Truck thoroughbreds who completed every challenging race mile this season are: Gus Vildosola Jr, Mexicali, Mexico (No. 21 Vildosola Racing Ford Raptor) and Eduardo Laguna, Mexicali, Mexico (No. 17 RPM Racing Chevy Silverado). SCORE Trophy Truck is the sport’s marquee racing division for high-tech, 850 horsepower unlimited production trucks.

For Vildosola Jr it was his second SCORE Milestone Award (2006 was his first). The other multiple winner in this year’s group of SCORE Milestone winners is Cody Reid, Apple Valley, Calif., who has now won two straight years in Class 10 in his Chevy-powered Custom open-wheel desert race car.

The other seven winners all captured their first SCORE Milestone Awards in 2015.

The 2015 SCORE World Desert Championship season included the four SCORE Baja races—the 29th Bud Light SCORE San Felipe 250, the inaugural Bud Light SCORE Baja Sur 500, the 47th Bud Light SCORE Baja 500 and the 48th Bud Light SCORE Baja 1000. The solo U.S. race was the second annual Rigid Industries SCORE Imperial Valley 250.
