AltRider.com’s epic Taste of Dakar adventure ride is returning to Pahrump, Nevada, in March 2015.
The Dakar Rally is arguably the most infamous race in the world — the ultimate test for riders wanting to prove themselves worthy. While few get the chance to participate in this extreme competition, you can get a sample near the Mojave Desert. Adventure accessories manufacturer AltRider has once again teamed up with Dakar Rally legend Jimmy Lewis to create an unparalleled weekend of adventure riding. AltRider’s Taste of Dakar 2015 will take place March 13 through 15 in Pahrump, Nevada.
Riders start the weekend at the Wine Ridge RV Resort, nestled at the base of the Spring Mountain Range. After setting up camp, enjoy a scrumptious catered dinner and a special presentation from a guest speaker. Afterward, riders head out to the campfire for a few beverages then settle in and get some rest for the exciting day ahead.
After enjoying a delicious breakfast, epic riding terrain awaits as riders head out Saturday morning across the desert just outside Death Valley — the same terrain Jimmy Lewis used to train for the Dakar Rally. Varied routes ensure there is something for all skill levels, from novice to rugged veteran alike. Stop mid-day to enjoy lunch and swap stories from the first half of ride. After finishing lunch, the rest of the afternoon features more thrilling trails that wind their way back to camp. Wrap the day up with a catered dinner surrounded by new friends, followed by another crackling campfire.
Riders also have the option of attending a one-day class with the Jimmy Lewis Off-Road Riding School on Sunday, March 15. The course focuses on teaching riders skills to tackle off-road riding on ADV bikes. The class is taught by Jimmy and his expert training staff, and is heavily discounted from the normal price.
Registration covers two nights of camping under the desert sky, five catered southwestern-style meals, adult beverages, and prize giveaways from AltRider’s event sponsor ICON RAIDEN. There will also be exciting presentations from guest speakers. Participants should come prepared with camping gear and their plated off-road motorcycle. For those traveling from afar, discounted motorcycle rentals are available through event sponsor MotoQuest. Registration for the event is capped, and last year’s event sold out months in advance — go to AltRider.com/Events to reserve your spot.
