Toyota Tacoma Chase Truck
It appears likely that 2016 will usher in a new Tacoma from Toyota, but this 2015 model chase truck serves as a strong reminder the current Tacoma can be built into one cool truck. The chase truck version features the same Bilstein suspension found on the TRD Pro, with the 2.5-inch front coilovers helping to provide an additional two inches of clearance as well as improve off-road performance.
The Tacoma also is fitted with the same wheels and tires found on the TRD Pro, which are 16-inch beadlock-style TRD Pro wheels that feature a 10mm offset for a slightly wider stance, while BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO tires provide traction on and off the pavement.
Inside, a Lowrance GPS is installed as well as a RCI chase radio. A full leather two-tone interior is found on the Tacoma, which is accented with TRD logos on the headrest, while a Superior Dash carbon-fiber interior kit completes the unique look.
Out back, N-Fab installed its custom bed bar that helps secure the spare tire (crucial in Baja!). The bed is also equipped with a large Coleman metal cooler (with a little added customization, and a Jegs Pro aluminum 2-ton jack. There are 30- and 40-inch Rigid E-Series light bars mounted to the Tacoma as well for added visibility. N-Fab’s rock rails with detachable steps will help provide added protection for traversing off-road terrain.
Toyota 4-Runner Chase Vehicle
The 4Runner chase vehicle is also well equipped in the capability department, as Toyota fitted it with the same Bilstein suspension found on the TRD Pro model. The 4Runner features a unique set of the same TRD Pro off-road wheels but features different tires from the Pro in the form of BFG T/A KOs.
The 4Runner also gets plenty in the light department for added visibility once the sun goes down, including Rigid E-Series light bars that include a 40-inch, 30-inch and 10-inch models. A Lowrance 5-inch GPS is installed on the Runner, as is an RCI chase radio for communication with the rest of the crew.
Quite a few Smittybilt upgrades are equipped on the SUV, including a Defender rack for additional rooftop storage, a Beaver step out back, and a 9,500-pound XRC winch to aid in recovery. N-Fab offers up some additional protection with its rock rails, while the rear tailgate step will help make grabbing rooftop gear that much easier. The 4Runner also features an undercover hidden winch mount system as well. An ARB shade tent is also mounted to the side should the SUV make a stop during the day.
For that last little bit of detail the headrest on each seat features the TRD logo, and a Superior Dash carbon-fiber interior kit is installed inside for added cool factor.
