How do you replace an off-road icon? It’s not an easy question to answer, especially for BFGoodrich as it looks to replace its iconic off-road staple, the All-Terrain T/A KO tire. We’re currently down in Baja putting the new All-Terrain T/A KO2 to the test on the very terrain BFG has made a name for itself in the off-road racing world. This is also where the company has learned much of what has gone into its truck and SUV tires that have been used on the pavement and in the dirt for decades.

Truth be told, it’s been a long time coming for this new tire to hit the market. As much as five years ago BFG talked of this new tire coming down the pipe, but it wasn’t until recently the company truly felt it was ready to replace its T/A KO (which isn’t entirely going away, mind you). So with that, we were invited down to Baja, surrounded by an army of BFGoodrich employees, BFGoodrich racers such as Rob MacCachren and Andrew Comrie-Picard, a crew from Ford and Miller Motorsports Park who brought along Raptors for us to test drive, and Wide Open Baja and a fleet of its open-wheel racecars. All of these elements are here for us to really get a feel for the T/A KO2, and we’re excited to put the new tire to the test.

Here’s a quick look at the fourth generation of the company’s new all-terrain tire, which BFGoodrich calls the “toughest all-terrain tire” they’ve ever produced to date. Boasting 20 percent tougher sidewalls, longer tread life on and off road, and even improved traction in practically every condition, BFGoodrich feels this is the new benchmark for all-terrain tires. We’ll share more info on the new T/A KO2 soon, as well as a report of our adventures testing the KO2 in Baja.
