SAN DIEGO — Soften spoken and easy-going, Dan Chamlee usually lets his racing speak for itself but he will make a public appearance this week when he is featured in the SCORE spotlight during Tuesday’s Dirt LiveHD internet show at 7 p.m. (PT). Airing in High Definition on www.score-international.com, the show is airing from its home at the SCORE International tech shop in El Cajon, Calif., just east of San Diego.
Chamlee, 51, of Cupertino, Calif., has earned eight SCORE Class 7 season point titles in his career, including straight and eight in the last nine years. Chamlee drives the No. 700 Factory Appliance Ford Ranger in the SCORE open mini-truck class where he has been near the top of the leaderboard for the last nine years.
In the three SCORE Baja races, Chamlee has won his class 12 total times including five each in the Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 and Tecate SCORE Baja 500 and twice in the Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250.
This year has been challenging for Chamlee without a race win, yet his determination and consistency, along with the benefits of having a great race crew to work with him, he is leading Class 7 heading into next week’s season-ending 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 in Ensenada, Mexico. Chamlee finished third out of five starters in the Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 in March and second out of seven starters in the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in June.
Also scheduled for an interview on this week’s Dirt LiveHD is Pete Sohren, a veteran SCORE racer of more than two decades who has raced most recently in the SCORE Trophy Truck division. He also builds race trucks, called BajaLite vehicles, that he leases to racers to participate in the SCORE Desert Series.
Roger Norman’s Dirt LiveHD one-hour show is broadcast live weekly and the show is anchored around Norman’s two desert racing series, the SCORE Desert Series and the High Desert Racing Association as well as the new bonus points championship purse program he has developed called the World Championship of Desert Racing. All live events, this will be the 42nd weekly Dirt LiveHD episode to air. Replays of previous Dirt LiveHD shows are kept in an electronic library on the dirtlive.com website.
Also on Tuesday night’s show, Las Vegas SCORE Trophy Truck racer and noted mechanic T.J. Flores, owner of Champion Race Works in Las Vegas, will present another special Tech Tips segment.
There will also be a special video of the week shown. This week will be highlights of the 2012 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 produced by Cactus Films of Ensenada, Mexico.
Dirt LiveHD also goes on-site live with expanded event coverage during SCORE and HDRA race weeks and will next be on-site to cover the legendary 46th Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 on Nov. 13-17 that will start and finish in Ensenada, Mexico.
With a new system of live tracking being used at the race will be available to the public live through Dirt LiveHD on the SCORE website, as well as on-site in the BFGoodrich Tires/Baja California Secretary of Tourism SCORE Media Center at the event. On the SCORE website, Dirt LiveHD will be live streamed throughout race week. At the start/finish line compound, the new SCOREvision LED screen will broadcast the Dirt LiveHD coverage of the race which will include real-time footage from several areas around the race course.
