CONGRESS, AZ: The 2013 ULTRA4 Nitto Tire National Championship race is back on at Thunder Rock Off Road Ranch in Congress, Arizona.
The race was originally cancelled in Las Vegas due to a permitting issue that caused two off road racing organizations, including ULTRA4, to cancel races the weekend of September 27th. At the request of ULTRA4 drivers and their sponsors, a suitable location was found for the same weekend at Thunder Rock Off Road Ranch in Congress, Arizona.
After exhausting all viable options in and around the Las Vegas area, the Vegas race was cancelled last week. However, it is not in the nature of ULTRA4 to give up easily, and many drivers wanted a champion decided in 2013. Arizona resident and driver, Andrew McLaughlin reached out to Thunder Rock Off Road Ranch in Congress, AZ to see if they would consider putting on a a race in less than two weeks. When Thunder Rock agreed, he contacted ULTRA4 Founder, Dave Cole who was in Portugal overseeing the inaugural ULTRA4 race, King of Portugal, and Cole put the wheels in motion to make an alternate race happen.
With the driver’s support, ULTRA4 and Thunder Rock have secured a county permit for the event and are happy to announce that the 2013 Nitto Tire National Championship race is back on. More than 40 drivers have agreed to the new race venue, including all top 10 series points drivers. Those that are unable to make the event can still request a refund.
The race will now be held on Saturday, September 28th allowing drivers as much time as possible to make the race. The site will be open to spectators. Cost to spectators is $15 a day and $25 for the weekend. Camping is $10 a night per vehicle. Pre-running and registration will be on Friday, September 27th and late registration will be available Saturday morning.
