The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking the public’s input on a proposal by Monticello to host and guide the 2013 San Juan ATV Safari. This is an incredible three-day adventure of world-class riding that needs your support. We are asking all OHVers in Utah to take the time to shoot the BLM an email or a quick note supporting the Special Recreation Permit (SRP) for this annual event. We have provided some bullet points below to help.

The EA is available for public review and comment on the Environmental Notification Bulletin Board (ENBB) at: https://www.blm.gov/ut/enbb/index.php; search for project name “ATV Safari.”

The EA analyzes a proposal by the City of Monticello, Utah, to host and conduct guided ATV tours on 15 designated routes in areas throughout the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. No cross-country travel would be allowed, and the proposed event routes are already designated in the travel management plans for the Moab and Monticello Field Offices. Four routes are located in the Moab Field Office, and 11 routes are located in the Monticello Field Office. The event would provide guided tours for ATVs, Utility Task Vehicles and motorcycles over a three-day period in September. Guides would provide orientation sessions on safety, trail terrain, riding tips, and the Tread Lightly Leave No Trace program.

Written comments will be accepted by letter or email until September 9, 2013. Please reference “2013 ATV Safari” when submitting comments.
