Scott-Douglas-TORC-8-16-13El Cajon, CA – The weekend at Red Bud MX really put Douglas Motorsports to the test as the team practically every resource available to put the #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust PRO-4×4 back on the podium. After having some early season success, the team had its share of mid-season struggles, but like all successful teams, Douglas Motorsports looks to be back on track after a solid third place finish in Round Twelve.

Scott Douglas and his team arrived in southwestern Michigan Wednesday evening and spent the next day working with various media outlets promoting the weekend of TORC racing. Douglas even took time to talk off-road racing with multi-time Supercross/Motocross champion Ricky Carmichael as the “GOAT” would be making his short-course debut at Red Bud.

Friday was would be a busy day for the team as multiple practice sessions and an early evening qualifying session was on the schedule. The layout of the one-mile long track at Red Bud is very unique. There are multiple elevation changes, large jumps, and technical corners as well as varying soil compositions that include sand, soft loamy dirt, and even some hard dry slick clay which truly test the driver, crew chief and race truck.

The first practice session had Scott Douglas behind the wheel of his newly built manual transmission race truck. The team had fully prepared the automatic transmission race truck as well and Douglas turned a handful laps in it during the second practice session. Afterwards Douglas and crew chief Jason Schampers decided that the automatic transmission equipped truck would give the team the best performance on the very technical Red Bud layout.

The Friday evening qualifying session had the #7 AMSOIL Borla Exhaust PRO-4×4 stop the timers third quickest in the ten truck field. This was a great beginning to the race weekend.

The actual Round 11 race was very eventful for most of the competitors including Scott Douglas. The Saturday afternoon race saw just about every colored flag available in motorsports used during the sixteen laps. Douglas had a very fast truck, he even turned the second fastest lap of the race, but with all the pushing and shoving that accompanies a tight technical track like Red Bud, the AMSOIL Ford had to make a quick stop in the Hot Pits to replace the first of two flat tires. Thanks to the great work by the Douglas Motorsports crew, Scott stayed on the lead lap and finished a very respectable fourth place.

Overnight Jason and the crew replaced the broken body panels and make additional changes to the chassis set-up.

Sunday’s race saw Scott Douglas run a very strong race as he avoided all the mayhem and landed on the podium with a third place finish.

“This third place finish feels awesome,” remarked Scott Douglas. “The last couple of race weekends has been tough on our team. We realize the level of competition in the TORC series is unlike any other form motorsports. My team kept working, we never held our heads down. The dedication from my team is incredible. The great support from all our partners allows us to have two trucks that we can test and race. This maximizes our ability to finish on the podium, win races, and ultimately win championships. This weekend has been a defining moment for Douglas Motorsports and we will use this weekend to build from and finish the rest of the season very strong.”

Scott Douglas is currently in third place in the 2013 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL PRO-4×4 Championship standings.

The next race on the schedule is the Crandon Off-Road World Championship held August 31 – September 1 at the “iconic” Crandon International Off-Road Raceway. The weekend also hosts the AMSOIL CUP the high stakes truck race that Scott Douglas has won three times in its eighteen year history.
