Taylorville, IL – The PRO-Light division of the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL is not only the largest field of competitors in the series, but it’s undoubtedly the most competitive. Randy Eller and his #11 PSC Steering /Ignite Racing Fuel/Lilly Signs/Maxxis Tire PRO-Light may not have finished on the podium, but the team did run strong all weekend as the team moved into the top ten in the points championship.
The race track at Red Bud had a great combination of big air jumps and twisty switchbacks and corners. The faster portions of the track ran on hard pack clay while dark loamy dirt in the corners created a continually changing race groove lap after lap.
After qualifying tenth fastest of Friday evening, the Eller Racing Development team went to work make adjustments to the suspension looking for additional speed for Saturday’s sixteen lap race.
Saturday’s Round 11 saw Eller and the PSC Steering Pro-Light running in the middle of the pack the entire race. The motocross style of the race track really saw track conditions change as large holes and ruts developed in most of the corners. It really tested the suspension set-up on #11 PRO-Light as Randy Eller crossed the finish line in eighth place.
Overnight the crew continued to make adjustments to the rear suspension in the hopes of improving the truck’s bite as it came out of the corners.
Sunday’s race saw Eller continue his solid performance. The changes to the chassis set-up were definitely working as the race truck drove through the corners faster than the day before. When the checkered flag was waved, Randy Eller and #11 PSC Steering /Ignite Racing Fuel/Lilly Signs/Maxxis Tire PRO-Light finished in sixth place.
“This place is really tough on equipment and the driver,” commented Randy Eller. Our rear suspension wasn’t quite right on Saturday, but we stayed out of trouble and that was important on a tight track like this. Sunday’s race we definitely had a better handle of the track. We knew how the track would change and we definitely got faster as the race went on. Best of all we are now in the top ten in the championship.”
The next stop on the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL will be at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin on August 31 – September 1.
The Labor Day Weekend event will have Colby Eller joining the team in the #10 PSC Steering /Ignite Racing Fuel/Lilly Signs/Maxxis Tire PRO-Light. This should be the largest PRO-Light field of the year.
