Irvine, CA – Bryan Roper is an Arizona native that has become a top five National Trials competitor over the past few years. Like many of the top EnduroCross racers, he is trying to make the transition from Trials, which means he is now thrown into head to head racing through some pretty gnarly obstacles. Roper is learning quickly and the nineteen year old is currently leading the MAVtv Junior EnduroCross Championship, which is a championship within a championship for riders 21 and under.

Ironically, the closest rider in the Junior Championship chase is fellow Arizona resident, Max Gerston. Gerston comes from an off-road and desert racing background so it is very interesting to see the contrasting styles of the two riders. Gerston is far more aggressive but the two are close in the points chase so it is difficult to argue which style is better. Oregon’s Keith Sweeten is another rider with a  Trials background and is currently third in the Junior Championship followed by Steward Baylor, the current GNCC XC2 Champion and National Enduro points leader that turned some heads at his first ever EnduroCross at the X Games. Jacob Argubright, one of the top desert racers is currently fifth.

The 2012 GEICO AMA EnduroCross series, presented by Lucas Oil is currently on a summer break and will resume on September, 15th inside the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Tickets are available here:
