Review: Moto 8 Helmet

Dec. 23, 2008 By Ricky Sosebee
At the first of the year I found myself looking for a new riding helmet. I have kind of picky taste in that I need a comfortable and easy to clean helmet. I demand a good fit, something that doesn't make my cheeks feel like they are being forced into my mouth, and great ventilation to make those long hot days of summer more enjoyable. I also really like catchy colors and just an overall inspiring design that makes my friends stand and drool, while scrambling to hide their worn-out brain buckets.

It’s not a high school buddy or someone I’ve known since my youth, but a closer, more dedicated friend - my new Bell Moto 8 helmet. Starting as an auto parts store back in 1923, Bell Auto Parts would become one of the biggest names in head protection.

With more than enough features to make the purchase seem worthy, lets start with the most important feature of the Moto 8. The shell of this awesome helmet is made of a Tri-Weave Kevlar carbon fiber fiberglass composite. This makes it super light and strong. Having a new fully-adjustable flying bridge visor makes the Moto 8 look awesome. There is a spare visor shipped with each helmet as well.

This Bell helmet comes in its own protective carry bag and the bag has features that make the whole package even more alluring. The fleece lined and vented helmet bag sets a standard for all others to follow. The bag even comes with a side pocket that will hold spare roll-offs or goggle lenses.

Not quite a year ago I received my new Bell Moto-8 in the mail and I wore this masterpiece to every event I could. This is one part of my gear that I never want to let go of. It fits like a glove and cleans up nice after every ride. If I had to relive the last year's ride sessions, I would say a very enjoyable part of my seat time was knowing I had the technology and comfort of Bell with me every time.
