2007 WORCS ATV Nationals Round 1 Phoenix, Sunday Amateur Racing
Mini Quad Racing, Production and Veterans
![]() Sunday kicked off bright and cold, but the biggest challenge was the massive amount of water that had been laid on the track throughout the previous evening and apparently also fresh that morning. The Open C, Production C and 12-15 240cc Open riders got to take the full brunt of the abuse. Battling their way to the top of their class podiums were Justin Hunter, Zach Hanes and David Kelley. ![]() By race 10, the second of the day Sunday, track conditions were slightly better. This was A- and B-level riders from various divisions, including Sport 15-29, Vet 30 years +, and Master 40 years +. Wins today went out to Jor Dan Hansen, Nick Flowers, Brandon Ciptak, Aaron Smith, "Old Man" Jon Wayment and Lewis Walck. ![]() Third race on Sunday is always the minis, and kudos have to go out to first-time racers and the "veterans" alike. One of the best battles was between Caide Hunt and Buddy Williams, in 51-70cc Open class. Caide had a wreck that left her racing with a bent axle on Saturday, but today she came back ready to take on all-comers. Buddy answered the challenge, and the two of them turned a blazing 8 laps in just under 30 minutes, swapping the lead several times. Eventually, Williams would take the win, with Caide just 20 seconds back. Congratulations to other class winners Kody Winiecki in 50cc Stock 7-8 years, Chase Higgins in 50cc Stock 4-6 years, and Dean Wheeler in 70cc Stock. ![]() We also applaud the efforts of #2934 Bryan Chambers from Bull Head City AZ, in his very first race ever. He completed one lap in just under 10 minutes. He certainly had the crowd behind him, and showed great courage and dedication. We were very glad to see him totally outfitted in proper safety gear. No barn boots, tennis shoes or open face helmet for that boy! You'll go far, and probably keep all your toes and shins intact. Good job mom and dad So how are those photo galleries coming? Come on down to the ORC BBS HERE and follow along. -ptw.
