Kawasaki 2003 Mule 3020

Feb. 01, 2003 By ORC STAFF
Created for work on smooth or delicate surfaces, the full-sized Kawasaki MULE™ 3020 utility vehicle rides on wide, smooth-tread tires and is well suited for golf course maintenance. Like its sibling, the MULE 3000, it features a steel, tilting cargo bed, bench seat, automatic transmission and automotive-type controls.
The MULE 3020 features aggressive styling, a rugged grille and rounded fenders. The body panels of the cab are made of durable, color-infused plastic to help hide scuffing. The front hood of the MULE 3020 can be lifted with the touch of a button to reveal a large storage space, which also has convenient tie-down loops to secure cargo. Located beneath the front grille are winch-ready tabs, so mounting a winch is made easy, and a passenger-side grab rail is mounted on the cab frame. Two lever latches make opening and closing the tailgate easy, and sound-deadening insulation around the engine helps to keep the MULE 3020 operating quietly.
Controls on the MULE 3020 are simple and easy to use. The forward/reverse shift lever is conveniently located within easy reach on the dash. The coolant temperature warning light is easy to see, and a push-button control activates 35-watt cat-eye headlights. Other standard features include an hour meter, fuel gauge and horn.
An industrial, liquid-cooled four-stroke V-twin engine provides power for the MULE 3020. A large radiator and fan help keep engine temperatures under control, even in hot climates. A digital electronic ignition enhances engine response and also helps to prevent spark plug fouling. A double-barrel carburetor accurately meters fuel and airflow for more complete combustion. There is a cyclone-type air cleaner plus air restriction gauge to indicate when the filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. The fuse box, oil dipstick and oil filler tube are located under the seat for easy to access.
The MULE 3020 utilizes the Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System, a highly refined, continuously-variable transmission, to create a wide ratio of pulling power and quick acceleration. Dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive transfers power to a dual-mode differential that can be locked to maximize traction or unlocked to minimize ground disturbance when making tight turns.
The chassis of the MULE 3020 features stiff front springs to maintain optimum ground clearance and the De Dion rear leaf-spring suspension is designed to carry heavy loads, yet provides a smooth, comfortable ride when the cargo bed is empty. Self-adjusting hydraulic drum brakes at all four wheels ensure progressive stopping power and have extra flanges with upgraded seals to keep out mud and water. Rear wheel bearings are highly durable and have special seals for better protection from water. To minimize ground disturbance, the MULE 3020 rides on smooth-tread 20-inch tires.
Like the other MULE 3000-series gasoline-powered utility vehicles, the MULE 3020 can carry 803 pounds in its steel cargo bed and can tow 1,200 pounds. Those who want to customize their MULE 3020 can choose from a vast array of accessories available through Kawasaki MULE dealers. Consumers can also purchase accessories through the internet at www.BuyKawasaki.com.
Available in Hunter Green, the MULE 3020 has a suggested retail price of $7,499 and comes standard with a 12-month, unlimited mileage warranty that can be extended up to three years.
Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., markets and sells at wholesale JET SKI® watercraft, ATVs, MULE™ utility vehicles, portable generators, power products, and motorcycles. The product lines are sold at retail by a network of independent dealers. The company employees more than 600 people in the United States, with nearly 400 of them located at its Irvine, Calif., headquarters.
