Kawasaki 2003 Mule 3010 4WD

Feb. 01, 2003 By ORC STAFF
The Kawasaki MULE™ 3010 utility vehicle is similar in concept to a four-wheel-drive pickup truck, but its deliberately rugged design and smaller size enable it to maneuver into places that are normally inaccessible to full-sized vehicles.
With features that include a gasoline-powered, four-stroke industrial engine, selectable four-wheel drive, continuously variable transmission (CVT), automotive-type controls, bench seat and a tilting cargo bed, the MULE 3010 off-highway utility vehicle is perfect for a variety of outdoor work and recreation. Ranchers, farmers, hunters, law enforcement agencies and owners of large estates can benefit from the versatility and durability of the MULE 3010.

For 2003, the MULE 3010 is available in all-new Aztec Red, traditional Hunter Green and Advantage® Classic™ camouflage. It features aggressive styling, a rugged grille, headlights and rounded fenders, and the body panels of the cab are made of durable, color-infused plastic to help hide scuffing. The front hood of the MULE 3010 can be lifted with the touch of a button to reveal a large storage space, which also has convenient D-rings to secure cargo.

Located beneath the front grille are winch-ready tabs for easy winch mounting, and a passenger-side grab rail is mounted on the cab frame. Plus, two lever latches make opening and closing the tailgate easy.

Controls on the MULE 3010 are also easy to operate. The high/low-range, forward/reverse shift lever and the lever for selecting four-wheel drive operation are placed within easy reach on the dash. The coolant temperature warning light is easy to see, and a push-button control activates 35-watt cat-eye headlights.

Other standard features include an hour meter, fuel gauge and horn.
A liquid-cooled, four-stroke V-twin engine provides power for the MULE 3010 utility vehicle. A large radiator and fan help maintain consistent engine temperatures, even in hot climates, for increased durability.

A digital electronic ignition enhances engine response and also helps prevent spark plug fouling. A double-barrel carburetor accurately meters fuel and air flow for more complete combustion. There is a cyclone-type air cleaner and air restriction gauge to indicate when the filter needs to be serviced. The fuse box, oil dipstick and oil filler tube are located under the seat for easy access.

The MULE 3010 utilizes Kawasaki's highly refined Kawasaki Automatic Power-Drive System (KAPS) to create a wide ratio of pulling power and quick acceleration, and tension for the KAPS drivebelt is adjustable. When four-wheel drive operation is selected, a two-speed transfer case gives the operator the option of a lower gear ratio for extra pulling power.

Dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive then transfers power to a dual-mode rear differential that maximizes traction, yet minimizes ground disturbance when making tight turns.

The chassis of the MULE 3010 features stiff front springs to maintain optimum ground clearance and the De Dion rear leaf-spring suspension is designed to carry heavy loads yet provide a smooth ride when the cargo bed is empty. Self-adjusting hydraulic drum brakes at all four wheels ensure progressive stopping power and have extra flanges with upgraded seals to keep out mud and water. Rear wheel bearings are highly durable and have special seals for better protection from water. Also, 23-inch tires provide a comfortable ride as well as maximum traction over a variety of surfaces.

The MULE 3010 can carry 803 pounds in its steel cargo bed and can tow 1,200 pounds. Those who want to customize their MULE 3010 utility vehicle can choose from a vast array of accessories available through Kawasaki MULE dealers. Consumers can also purchase accessories through the internet at www.BuyKawasaki.com.

Available in Aztec Red or Hunter Green, the MULE 3010 has a suggested retail price of $8,799 and comes standard with a 12-month, unlimited mileage warranty that can be extended up to three years. It is also available in Advantage® Classic™ camouflage for $9,299 and includes a slip-resistant bedliner as standard equipment.

Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A., markets and sells at wholesale JET SKI® watercraft, ATVs, MULE™ utility vehicles, portable generators, power products, and motorcycles. The product lines are sold at retail by a network of independent dealers. The company employees more than 600 people in the United States, with nearly 400 of them located at its Irvine, Calif., headquarters.
