The El Pasos are a maze of great 4-wheeling
trails. There are many things worth seeing: mines, spectacular
canyons, wild desert mountains, and Burro Schmidt's
tunnel.
Be wary here, though. The roads are dangerous
and empty. Take good maps and a compass, as well as emergency
supplies. Go prepared to spend the night. If clouds are in the sky,
get out of the canyons immediately -- they can fill with a wall of
water 12 feet high.
But the trails are worth it. You can dig opals, examine Burro Schmidt's tunnel, travel Last Chance Canyon, head up Mesquite Canyon, and find beautiful agates and jasper
