If the Can-Am Maverick X3 models weren’t already pushing the envelope last year, the company has decided to up the ante even further. The 2018 Cam-Am Maverick X3 Turbo R will feature an increase in horsepower of 12 percent, or 18 horsepower, and 10 percent more torque. Can-Am says that its new flagship side-by-side vehicle can go from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds, laying claim as the “fastest accelerating factory-built side-by-side vehicle on the market.”
Can-Am made changes to the intercooler and fan to help with the performance increase, as they were redesigned to maximize heat transfer. A new fuel pump was added to create more volume to support the additional power of the Rotax engine as well.
Can-Am says that in spite of the changes the new Maverick X3 Turbo R family will not increase in price. Can-Am also notes that all Maverick X3 X rs vehicle packages, including both the two and four-seat models, come standard with a factory-installed, retractable four-point harness system.
New Maverick X3 Turbo for 2018
Can-Am will also be introducing a new model for 2018, as the X3 family now includes the 120-hp Maverick X3 Turbo side-by-side. Designed as a point-of-entry option, Can-Am says the biggest selling point of this new model is that it offers more horsepower than competitive vehicles in its price point. The new Maverick X3 Turbo family will be offered in two-seat and four-seat MAX packages, with pricing for the two-seat models starting at less than $20,000 USD. The new Maverick X3 Turbo and benefits include the industry’s leading long-travel suspension with 20 inches of travel both front and rear, the Rotax ACE turbocharged engine, with no intercooler, and more.
