We recently got a copy of the latest DVD from Tom Severin—Winching & Recovery. The I4WDA Certified trainer takes an essential recovery tool known as the winch and breaks it down to bite-sized chapters of useful information on vehicle recovery.
I'm sure most of you know what a winch is used for—but did you know you could pull yourself backwards with a front-mounted winch? How about increasing the pulling power of your winch by eight times? Sounds crazy ... well, it's not. With some careful planning and rigging, Severin shows us how it's done.
Take this one step further, learn how to use your winch safely and completely leverage all its possible uses with some extra winching supplies like snatches, pulleys, D-rings, tree straps and chains.
The high-quality video is well edited and moves right along at a good pace. You can easily go back and review any of the 16 chapters with the ease of the built-in DVD menu. It even comes with bonus material including rigging diagrams.
We liked it. The subject is serious business. One bad hook-up and it could damage your 4x4 or cost you your life.
We fully recommend it to anyone that owns a vehicle equipped with a winch or those considering getting one.
Learn how to do it right with Tom's Winching and Recovery DVD. It's a good re-fresher for the experienced off-roader and a great addition to any collection.
