We recently came into contact with Mr. Avi Meyers, CEO of UnicatAmericas. Unicat has has been making amazing off-road vehicles that double as RV’s since 1990 in Germany. This type of vehicle has traditionally only been a delicacy found in Europe, until now. UnicatAmericas is building vehicles specific for the U.S. market that will be street legal; although they will be spending most of their time off-road. Mr. Meyers was nice enough to share a little about his company and these amazing machines now available in the U.S.

Hi Jaime,
UnicatAmericas, Inc. was established in order to make available to the American market a lineup of Expedition Vehicles previously available only in Europe. These vehicles are manufactured by UNICAT of Germany to the highest standards possible. They are not for the feint of heart! They are meant to take you to places where others fear to tread – the jungles of Central or South America, the Australian Outback, the Gobi or Sahara Deserts, the Alaskan Tundra, or deepest Africa. They are designed, engineered and built to take RVers virtually anywhere on earth and bring them back safely, comfortably and reliably. Our standard vehicles have an operational range of approximately 2,000 miles, carry at least 100 gallons of water, have lots of well thought out storage, and offer a variety of options to please the most demanding traveler or adventurer.
We currently offer models based on two different chassis – a Unimog U500 and an International 7400. Both are offered in a 4X4 or 6X6 configuration but only the International may be ordered as an extended or crew-cab. Our next model offering will be based on the new Dodge 5500 pickup truck due out in early 2007. This model will be offered as a single, extended, or crew-cab in either 4X4 or 6X6 configuration.
The International 7400 will be unveiled at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas on October 31 and will also tag along at the Baja 1000.
