The optical performance of the new spotting scopes is significantly increased in comparison to the preceding models in the Televid product line. The use of specialty fluoride glass yields an improved contrast range without altering the natural color tones of the subject. This glass provides unparalleled sharpness and brilliance for the ultimate in edge-to-edge resolution. The intricate high-performance lens system is incorporated into a compact, rugged and fully rubber-armored die-cast magnesium housing. This provides maximum protection for the precision-aligned optical elements.
As the shortest spotting scopes of their class, the new Leica Televid models are distinctive for their compact design and light weight. AquaDura™ is a Leica proprietary coating technology that is used on all exterior glass surfaces on the new spotting scopes. This AquaDura coating repels moisture, causing raindrops to cleanly drip off from the lens surface. Additionally, fingerprints and dirt can be easily removed. These spotting scopes can be used to the fullest of their capabilities, regardless of conditions.
The Leica Televid 82 and Televid 65 spotting scopes are both available in four versions. The new APO versions are available with either a straight or angled eyepiece and feature redesigned apochromatic lenses for perfect high contrast viewing free of color aberrations. The High Definition (HD) versions are also available with either a straight or angled eyepiece and use specialized glass in a newly designed lens arrangement that provides users with unprecedented optical color, clarity and contrast in this product class.
The Leica quick-change bayonet with its integral lock means that it allows the use of the extensive range of Leica wide-angle and zoom lenses on all Televid 82 and Televid 65 spotting scopes. The unique Leica VARIO 25-50x WW ASPH wide angle eye-piece is the newest optical innovations from Leica. Utilizing state-of-the-art Aspherical Lenses this new eyepiece delivers true wide angle field-of-view with extraordinary edge-to-edge sharpness throughout the magnification range. The ergonomic rubber elements and the rotating eye cup ensure total comfort during use ─ even for eyeglass wearers.
The magnesium bodies of this new generation of Leica Televid spotting scopes are nitrogen-filled housing and are watertight to a rated depth of five meters. All Televid models are guaranteed to fully function at temperatures between -25 and +55 Celsius.
The new Leica Televid spotting scopes are designed to be ergonomic and user-friendly. The dual focusing wheels are rubber-coated making for rapid sharpness setting with accurate fine adjustment so that even the tiniest details can be brought into focus. All of the spotting scopes are equipped with a newly designed tripod foot that allows for easy, quick-change horizontal and vertical mounting on the Manfrotto® tripod heads. The unique design also allows for 360-degree rotation on all models.
The new Televid spotting scopes come complete with a Leica eye-piece. The Leica Televid HD versions are offered with the high-magnification Leica VARIO 20-60x eyepiece, and the Leica APO-Televid versions with the new ultra-high performance wide angle Leica VARIO 25-50x WW ASPH eyepiece.
The new Leica Televid spotting scopes will be available in early 2008.
