1645 Hours -- Greg Rowe, aboard the No. 1A Bombardier 650, drove hard to the finish, snapping an axle on his quad early in his leg of the race. After welding the axle at a pit, he powered on, eventually snapping the axle once again.
ANGEL IN THE SAND: The Nor-Cal crawling crew saved this HUMMER H2 driver some off-road racing carnage to his new ride. "The Angel" sent the H2 back from the center of the alternate race course. Just as he the H2 scurried, two race vehicles came blasting through the crowd at a lethal rate of speed. Lawn chairs and ice chests were hewn from the scene and ultimately saved by the quick feet of the spectators.
But, he didn't give up. He hung off the side of the mighty Bombardier as if riding a sidehack and finished the race to the roar of the crowd here in San Felipe. Rider of record, Jimmy Stephensen, started the race.
1632 Hours -- PCI Race Radio's Scott Steinberger suffered some downtime early in the race due to transmission failure at Morelia Junction. With a quick swap of the transmission in the dirt, the team sailed on to a finish. After a driver change, starter Jesse Jones was let without a ride back to camp
1232 Hours -- Dale Ebberts did not clinch the overall win, what would have made it his third consecutive victory of the season. He and co-driver Ernie Castro, who ran the second leg to finish the Jimco, missed the victory mark by 10 minutes, with a time of 3:58:08. The Inland Truss car with Ebberts and Castro behind the wheel did clinch a first in Class 1 and a second overall here at the 2003 SCORE San Felipe. Rider of record, Jimmy Stephensen, started the race.
THE BIG INLAND TRUST BUST: Impressed with Ernie Castro's performance, these desert babes, to the right, broke into sheer celebration upon the Inland Truss Ford chase truck, manned by Tim, the lead lady catcher for the Inland crew. These babes were accompanied by some dudes straight from Nor-Cal, specifically Pirate4x4.com, operated by lead rock legend Lance Clifford. The entire crew can be seen up top. To the right is "Chase Dog" Tim, rooting on the Class 1 three-peat for the team.

1027 Hours -- Among the intense radio chatter and emergency calls, there is some
"clown" with a "Mexican accent," who is doing his "best to disrupt communications" on PCI Race Radio's Weatherman channel. The "clown" claims to be "drinking Tecate 30 miles south of San Felipe." After Weatherman confronted him with the "right thing to do," he finally signed off, saying "alright then."
TRUE ENDURANCE: The 2002 SCORE Trophy Truck champions, David Ashley and Dan Smith, are well on their way to San Felipe for a finish. Will it be in time to take home a victory?
THE GO BETWEENS: In between race vehicles racing by at high rates of speed here at Zoo Road, spectators jockey into prime position with all necessities in hand.
THE POWERHOUSE: Shuttling through the intense crowd with an eye on victory, Inland Truss' Dale Ebberts powers his fierce Toyota-powered Jimco toward the finish.
GOT NERF?: Scott McMillin slices through the Zoo Road riot, sending Arizona boy, Mike Accordino, toward the San Felipe finish line at warp speed with all the witnesses in the world to rave about it for ears to come. This epic McMillin action set the crowd into a frenzy that no events in the world could ever duplicate.
1026 Hours -- Mike Julson is out of the race here at Check 2 with a busted transmission.
1025 Hours -- Trophy Truck No. 5 blew through Checkpoint 2 with no attempts to stop.
1015 Hours -- Class 8 truck, the No. 803 of Jim Patelli, is out of the race.
1007 Hours -- Quad 102A is at RM 135 and out of the race. The quad cannot be towed and is in need of a truck bed or trailer.
0955 Hours -- Trophy Truck No. 1, Enduro Racing's David Ashley and Dan Smith, just passed through Checkpoint 3 in the physical lead. The skies remain overcast, and because there is no wind, the dust is posing a problem for the racers.
0947 Hours -- We've arrived at RM 115 at Checkpoint 2. A vehicle fire just erupted during fueling at its pit. The vehicle is out of the race. We are reporting no significant injuries.
0922 Hours -- The last race vehicle has left the start line.
0907 Hours -- Incident No. 3. occured at about 1 1/2 mile north of Zoo Road. The quad rider involved, No. 16A, is in route to Red Cross for unkown reason.
A motorcycle was reportedly hit by a Class 10 car at about RM 63, just south of Checkpoint 1. This is a seperate incident than we reported on earlier involving the Trophy Truck.
A Class 10 car stopped to assist a motorcycle rider down in the middle of the course near the same area. It is unkown if this incident is related..
0900 Hours -- Class 8 truck No. 809, Robby Fallers, is reported out of the race at race mile (RM) 22.
0840 Hours --Trohpy Truck No. 99 reported earlier that he "may have clipped" a motorcycle. It is just now reported by the Weatherman and SCORE Ops that the rider, aboard motorcycle No. 267X, is deceased. We are uncertain of which rider, but the bike's rider is reported to be David Bills, 33, of San Diego. This information was reported by one of his team members to the ORC staff. Further reports indicate that the rider did not have a wrist band, which would positively identify him.
0829 Hours -- The 1X Honda XR of Steve Hengeveld, who started the race, and Johnny Campbell just passed through Checkpoint 3 several minutes ago.
0756 Hours --Trophy Truck No. 80 is reported on fire. The occupants are reported to be OK and waving their hands with their thumbs up.
DON JUAN CAMPBELL: Sporting paddle tires and that Baja attitude, Don Juan Campbell brings the crowd alive in between the silence of the quads and Trophy Trucks. At first glance, it'd appear that his mount was nothing more than an ancient CR500 from his grandfather's days in Glamis, but this highly modified Honda hits the fields with a kick stand that's been turned into a farm impliment and designer riding gear that boasts a butterfly colar.
ARIZONA CALLING: Top left, you see three guys who are longtime readers of ORC sitting stylishly amid the top of their 3,000 dollar prerunner and ultimately on top of the world. Coming down from Bullead City, Arizona, life couldn't be any better than this Zoo Road vantage point. Sitting and standing front and center with their police-trained Peoria perro. Again, the soon-to-be Class 7S Ford Ranger SCORE/BITD crew are devout Off-Road.com readers, who are hip on the prerunner scene and way cool spectators to "chill" with.
0535 Hours -- Rise & Shine San Felipe! -- Under warm skies & droopy eyes, the race gets underway with well over 250 entries. Cloudy skies hover above. It's already warm and no wind is blowing.
0520 Hours -- The night couldn't have been any better for those who braved the bars and stars of San Felipe, but race morning comes quick, and the ORC Crew is now in transit to our Zoo Road rendevous with thousands upon thousands of off-road racing's finest fans. We'll be checking back with you in several hours with updates. We expect to be back reporting live to you by just after noon.
