"It's a Jeep thing" and Mastercraft does understand.

Aug. 01, 2000 By Eddie Perez
For years now, Mastercraft has ruled the desert racing world with its suspension seat, and is now standard issue for all trucks competing in the ProTruck Racing Series(see press release below).

The "Rubicon" installed - sit in one of these and you'll understand why these seats are standard equipment in ProTrucks.

Remember the last time you jumped into your Jeep? How did the seat feel? If it was anyting like mine, the stock Jeep seat provided very little in the way of support.

On the other hand, the new Mastercraft "Rubicon" provides a firm, snug fit, and instantly improves the feel of the ride. The sides of this seat are high enough to provide support when you're on that "hard lean" to one side, but low enough to make getting in and out of your Jeep a breeze.

The next time you climb into your Jeep, stop and rate the comfort of your current seats. Maybe a little soft? Lack of lumbar support? Maybe just old and worn out, but never really of any great quality?

The Mastercraft "Rubicon" seats are made from high quality Naugahyde and are available in either high- or low-back design, and in more than 30 colors.

The original seats in our Project Jeep - Not a bad seat, but it lacks support and comfort.

By itself, the "Rubicon" will provide excellent support to your back and legs, however, you can order these seats with the optional "SchUkra" lumbar support that will provide up to 3" of adjustable support for your back. The adjustment knob can be attached on either side of the seat, so both the driver and passenger can benefit from the extra lumbar support.

If you're really particular about your ride, you can go one step further and have the folks at Mastercraft custom-fit your new seats.

All you do is pick the color and the fabric and Mastercraft will make sure your seats fit your seat. The custom fit assures that the contour of the seat will compliment your driving position.

Using only quality products ensures that your Mastercraft seats will be long wearing and durable.

MASTERCRAFT RACE PRODUCTS JOINS PROTRUCK SERIES

Protruck Racing Organization Announces MasterCraft Seats as Spec Seating Sponsor

SANTEE, CA, MAY 30 - Protruck Racing Organization, Inc. (PRO) has announced MasterCraft Race Products as the new spec-seating product for the Protruck Racing Series. Blending quality, safety and comfort with 30 years of racing seating development, MasterCraft Race Products introduces the PRO36 Seat, specially designed for Protruck vehicles.

MasterCraft was founded in 1970 by Jack Miller, with the assistance of Alan Taylor they designed the original suspension seat, which now sets the standard in the off-road industry. It has remained a family business until Arc Manufacturing, Inc., a San Diego leader in aerospace and titanium welding and manufacturing, purchased MasterCraft in late 1999. With Arc Manufacturing's expertise in production and MasterCraft's 30 years of seating safety and quality detail, MasterCraft's' new owners, Robbie Pierce and Chuck Wullimier, along with general manager, Peri C. Kalar, have relocated to Santee, Calif. MasterCraft has begun expansion of their product lines to include MasterCraft seat belts, along with seats, window nets, limiter straps, tool bags and helmet bags.

PRO's founder and owner, Ivan Stewart, has been driving in a MasterCraft seat for more than 25 years, and is proud to announce the addition of MasterCraft to the Protruck Series sponsor group. "With 27 years of off-road racing experience, MasterCraft has been to the winners' circle with me countless times, and has kept me safe and comfortable," comments Stewart on his use of the product. "Comfort will be a critical issue for myself and the Protruck teams when we are racing in the two 2,000-mile millennium events this year!"

Along with designing the new PRO36 Seat for Protruck drivers, MasterCraft offers the attention to customer needs that have kept their name and product in the forefront of the industry, with custom fittings, seat maintenance and tune-ups. MasterCraft also customizes tool bags and door bags to fit specific locations and mounting requirements for just about any application.

"We are excited to be a part of the Protruck family and look forward to working with all the teams, the Protruck Organization and continuing MasterCraft's long-time relationship with Ivan Stewart," concludes Pierce. "Peri has always kept quality and service as a number one priority for MasterCraft, and with Arc's manufacturing experience we have already begun to expand into new product lines. Mastercraft has made installing the seats easy. With their sliders mounted to the bottom of the "Rubicon", the new seat will drop right into the existing seat mounts. How much easier can they make it?

With Mastercraft's sliders mounted, the "Rubicon" fits right into the existing seat mount (top). The existing seat mount bolts are fine thread, so you will need to replace them nuts with course threads to fit the Mastercraft sliders.

You'll notice that you sit up a little bit higher than before, and you'll have much more side and back support. And just wait 'til you get out on the trail - while going over your first obstacle, you'll feel the support and firmness where it counts.

The new "Rubicon" is just what you need to complete your Jeep setup.

Old vs. New - The "Rubicon" wins hands down.

You'll have more than enough choices when it comes to color selection as Mastercraft seats come in more than 30 colors. The Polyurethane foam used in creating this seat can be covered in either vinyl or fabric. Both fabrics are durable and easy to clean.

Installation is completed in just a few minutes.

Here's a little helpful hint for those of you that don't keep a fully-stocked hardware store in your garage:     Before removing your old seats, run to your local hardware store and pick up 8 course thread nuts and washers for your new seats.

If you don't do this, you may have to re-install the old seat so you can get to the store without having to walk. (That happened to a friend of mine!)

One more helpful hint -

Start with the passenger side first, so that if you don't have the proper nuts and bolts, you can jump in your Jeep and head out to the store.

With Mastercraft's wide range of colors, you're sure to find one to match your Jeep - in Vinyl of Fabric.

The Mastercraft "Rubicon" - it's what the well-dressed Jeep is wearing these days.
