Race #1: 7 a.m. - Classes 5-1600, 9, 11, 1400 - Only seven of the 14 5-1600s managed to finish their six lap event. Friday's winds had stopped blowing, and the dead calm meant lots of dust on course. Several rolled over. The three lead cars were Mario Ledezma in the Ledezma family car, Brent Shermak, and Billy Gereghty (who just had a win at the BITD Henderson race in Art Savedra's car). Shermak finished first, but Ledezma pushed hard for the quickest last lap, and took the win. Shermak was second and Gereghty finished third.

In Class 9 Mexico's perennial winner, Eric Fisher, didn't show, dropping the field to four cars. Brian Church led all the way, the only driver to do sub 12 minute laps in this class to take the win by four minutes.

Class 11 went to Mexico's Eric Solorzano, who completed all three required laps while his only competitor did only one. Solorzano's best time in the VW sedan was 13 minutes and 13 seconds for the 7.4 hard miles.

Sportsman Buggy: Some were racing, some were pre-running. Kory Scheeler took the win, about a minute in front of t-shirt designer Rory Ward, who is a real Sportsman racer.

Race #2: Class SCORE Lite and 5 (Baja Bugs) George Seeley took the win, but Michelle Bruckmann gave him a hard battle. She had a problem on the second lap that cost her six minutes, and lost by only five minutes.

In the SCORE Lite group Cameron Steele looked like a rocket. He did six consistent laps, his fastest time a quick 8 minutes and 56 seconds, the only sub-nine minute lap in the class. He won by three minutes plus. The Stan Potter/Dan Worley team too second, with Jake Batulis third.

Race #3: Class 10 - Dennis Hunter had his Honda powered Millen in front with the class fast lap of 9:02, but then didn't make any more laps. Darren Hardesty moved his VW AlumiCraft up through traffic to take the win by 31 seconds. Eli Yee was second in a Honda Jimco.

Race #4: Nearly 50 trucks in nine classes went onto the track for the fourth race.

Class 3: Ken and Don Moss, Bronco, took the win, finishing about three-and-a-half minutes in front of Chris Raffo, in a Blazer.

Class 7: Victor Herrera, Jr. Ford, with the class fast lap on his final loop, at 9:49, took the win by two minutes. Doug Siewert, Chevy, was second.

Class 7S: Nick Moncure, Toyota, was the winner by just nine seconds. Tyler Fox placed second in his Ford.

Class 7SX: Jesse Rodriguez, with his 68-year-old-father, Pepe, riding in the third seat, in back, took the win in Class 7SX.

Class 8: Glen Greer took the win by virtue of being the only Class 8 truck to finish all six laps. He did it in one hour flat.

Stock Full: Greg Foutz, usually a BITD racer, debuted his new Ford truck here and led from the second lap. He won by over three minutes.

Protruck: Gustavo Vildosola, Jr., in a Toyota, repeated his last year's win, taking the class by seven minutes. Only three of the six starters finished.

Sportsman Truck: This four-lap class went to Matt Torian in a Ford Ranger; He led all the way, winning by almost three minutes.

Race #5; Class 1-2/1600 - This was a tight race, with 35 starters, 29 of them finished. Rob MacCachren, in a Fraley, took the win, defeating his frequent race partner, Bryan Freeman, in another Fraley, by just under two minutes. MacCachren had the fast lap on lap five, at 9 minutes and 32 seconds.

Race #7: The Trophy Trucks were greeted by a roar of applause from the stands as they lined up. The two-truck duels up the front straight and over the new "mesa'" feature, were scary exciting to watch, but except for some paint swapping most made it most times. Fast lap belonged to Carl Renezeder in his Chevy, at 8:33 in his Chevrolet. He did it on the last lap. Andy McMillin looked good in Gordon's truck, but didn't finish, and Dale Dondel, last year's winner, was out on lap one. But Renezeder took the win, 17 seconds in front of Tim Herbst in his Ford. Andy McMillin didn't finish in Gordon's truck, nor did Evan Evans, who managed only three laps. In all, only 18 of them made it to the finish.
