This weekend, the General Tire Mint 400 will be held in the desert just outside of the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas. To kick off the event, General Tire held a party in downtown Las Vegas on Freemont Street Thursday night to crown the winner of the Miss Mint Competition.

Yep, this guy and his spandex were rockin' the General Tire party. They actually sounded like Van Halen, too. |
For those who are unfamiliar with the race, a few years back SNORE (Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts) brought the historic off-road desert race back into the fray. The event was a major desert race back in the days, drawing racers and well-known celebrities out to tackle the brutal courses. If you’re ever read the Hunter S. Thompson book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, you’ll remember that Raoul Duke is actually heading out to Vegas to write a story about the event. Over the years, the Miss Mint title itself has been held by some rather famous women as well, as Linda Carter and Vanna White both were Miss Mint girls at one time.
General Tire was also a big supporter of the race in its hey day, and when it went away General also pulled out of off-road racing. With its return, General Tire went full force back into the off-road race world and supported the race heavily. Part of that support was bringing back the popular Miss Mint competition.
For the past few months, thousands of people have logged onto GeneralTire.com to vote for Miss Mint, and eventually the contest was whittled down to three women: Michaelene Baldi, Ali Kossler and Maria Baldi.
After the votes were tallied, General Tire awarded the Miss Mint 2010 crown to Ali Kossler of Anaheim, California, who beat out the Baldi sister from Cherry Valley, California. While it was all fun and games at the party, Kossler does have a busy weekend ahead of her.
