Heber, California (May 26, 2007) – With the SCORE Tecate Baja 500 fast approaching, SMD Motorsports is putting the final touches on a strategy that promises to produce a strong result. The entry list for the 39th running of the storied race has set a new SCORE record by exceeding the 500 mark. A total of 40 Trophy Trucks are entered. The #27 SMD Motorsports Geiser Built Trophy-Truck is scheduled to start in the middle of the pack in the 19th position. Coming off an impressive 3rd place finish at the Best in the Desert Terrible’s Town 250, hopes are high for an equally impressive showing at the Baja 500.
Matt Scaroni, who will share the driving duties with his brother David, commented “We are ready to get this race started. We’ve been preparing for the last few months, and now that we’ve had a little time to figure out the truck, I don’t think we will have any problem running at the front of the pack.”
As usual, the race will start and finish in the city of Ensenada. There are many new sections of race course that promise to challenge even the most experienced racers and teams. David Scaroni stated “The track promises to be as tough as ever, but I am fully confident in our planning and preparation for the event. We have a team that is second to none, and while there is always a capacity for things to go wrong, I am confident that we are fully prepared for whatever happens.” David further added “Nothing on the #27 Trophy-Truck is second rate, from the BFGoodrich Tires, to the Fox Racing Shocks, to the Trailready Beadlocks we have some of the best products available to the off-road industry, and we plan on using them to our advantage.” With start of the race less than a week away, SMD Motorsports is ready to rock the SCORE Tecate Baja 500.
