Cypress, CA – September 28, 2006 Nitto Tire North America is dedicated to motorsports and the racing industry. In its continued efforts to support the off-road market, Nitto sponsored CORR rookie, Casey Currie, for the 2006 racing season. Casey Currie competes in the Pro-Lite class running Nitto’s Terra Grappler All-Terrain tires. At the Nissan Off-Road Nationals in Chula Vista, Calif., on September 23, 2006 Casey Currie finished third, taking his first podium finish.

Because the Pro Lite series requires all participants to use a D.O.T.-approved, off-the-shelf tire, Casey Currie runs Nitto’s Terra Grappler All-Terrain tires, sized 265/75R16. Although the Terra Grappler All Terrain tire was designed for all surface conditions, most racers in the series use a more-aggressive mud terrain tire. While this might seem like a disadvantage, it had no bearing on Casey Currie’s performance at the last Chula Vista race, where he finished third. “We were extremely happy with Casey’s performance in Chula Vista. He ran consistently all day, keeping a grasp on third place nearly the entire race,” stated Nitto’s Off-Road Marketing Assistant, Tim Coltey.

When Casey Currie was asked about his win, he said he was impressed by the Terra Grappler’s performance. He explained, “To put Nitto on the podium with the Terra Grappler All-Terrain tires for the first time in C.O.R.R. history is amazing. If we can do it on all terrains, just think what will happen with the new mud tire. No one runs all terrains, making our tires shine on the podium. ”

To meet Pro-Lite tire regulations, Nitto and Currie are further developing Nitto’s Mud Grappler Extreme Terrain tire line to include smaller overall-diameter sizes. While t he Mud Grappler’s current line up includes tires sized from 33 to 37 inches, Pro-Lite mandates all participants use no larger than 32-inch tires. Nitto plans to debut the 32-inch Mud Grappler in C.O.R.R. competition in 2007, and smaller sizes are expected in retail stores throughout 2007.
