Clyde wanted to design and build a new Trophy Truck utilizing CAD and modern manufacturing processes. After a chance meeting in the desert with Tim Carroll 4 to 5 years ago, the reality of this completely CAD designed trophy truck started. Clyde hired Tim to be his Chief Design Engineer about 3½ years ago. (Tim has since branched out on his own www.carrollracingdevelopment.com and continues to work with the Stout Group, as well as other clients.) After a long and detailed design and manufacturing process, we were finally able to test for the first and only time on September 4th. We entered Primm with less than 60 miles on the brand new Stout ST1, and had done no shock tuning. This is a tribute to the talents of the design team, including the efforts of engineers in other Stout Group companies who assisted with the ST1 Trophy Truck. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done.
The new Stout ST1 Trophy Truck far exceeded our expectations the first time out. It was very, very fast, handled like a dream and was so easy to drive. The balance and steering was spot on. It will be a real force to be reckoned with. Thanks to Ray Fields from Dougan’s Racing Engines for all his support in our engine program. We want to thank our sponsors, Fox Shocks, American Racing Wheel, Alloy, Etnies, Uni, Lightforce, Optima Batteries and VP Fuels for their support. A special thank you goes out to Chris Anderson at American Racing, John and Todd at Fox Shocks and Ron at Alloy.
Others who made a huge difference during the Primm event were Vince and Al at Race Day Films, Danielle for all the logistics and coordination, and Linda for organizing all our administrative needs. As well, thanks to the Race Desert Community for making it such an enjoyable weekend. While we did not finish, we consider the first run a great success! We experienced a pulley problem with the alternator belt at Primm. This has been fixed, and we are ready for our scheduled testing with Fox September 20th for shock tuning in Plaster City.
We look forward to getting together again for the SNORE 250 in Las Vegas on September 29th. We will also be at the time trials Thursday for the BITD event October 5th & 6th with the new Stout ST1 Trophy Truck. For more information, see our web site at www.stoutindustry.com. We currently have 2 more Stout ST1 Trophy Trucks in production and available for sale.
Thank you!
