Curt LeDuc Finishes Second in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Series Challenge Cup

Dec. 21, 2009 By Press Release
With a prize purse totaling totaling $105,000 divided between the top three of both the Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 classes, the Lucas Oil Off Road Series (LOORS) Challenge Cup was one of the most highly anticipated competitions of the short course race season.  A blended field of 26 Unlimited 2s and Unlimited 4s (U2 and U4) advanced from qualifying to battle it out for the chance to win one of the largest prize purses in off-road racing and claim the victory in the inaugural Challenge Cup.

While Kyle LeDuc qualified first in his No. 99 Unlimited 4, the eight position inversion placed Kyle in the 8th starting position while father, Curt LeDuc, landed in the pole position in his No. 43 Rockstar / Makita Unlimited 4 Ford.  When the checkered flag dropped, Curt added yet another podium to the team's impressive resume by crossing the finish line in second and bringing home a prize purse totaling $15,000.  The 2009 BorgWarner Cup Champion, Kyle LeDuc, had his sights set on taking home yet another Cup title this season, however, transmission issues caused the No. 99 to pull off the track for a disappointing DNF with just five laps remaining.

Qualifying second, the four position inversion landed Todd LeDuc in the third starting position in his No. 8 Unlimited 2 Rockstar / Makita Ford.  Leading the Unlimited 2 field for most of the race, Todd unfortunately fell victim to the infamous Turn One that plagued Greg Adler, Rodrigo Ampudia, and Jerry Whelchel in previous competitions at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park.  Heading into the final lap, a little fender bumping with Rob MacCachren, combined with the infamy of Turn One wrecked havoc on Todd's lead and caused him to DNF when his truck rolled and caught fire.

Rockstar / Makita's Team LeDuc Racing will return to the short course track in 2010 for a full season of The Off-Road Championship Series and select Lucas Oil Off Road Series competitions.  Coverage of Lucas Oil’s Off Road Series Challenge Cup race will be broadcast in high definition on the NBC Network on January 2nd, 2010 at 2:30pm Eastern Standard Time.  Be sure to check local listings for broadcast times!
