Ahead of its big reveal next week in Detroit, an alert Reddit user has posted what sure seems like a legit picture of the upcoming Ram 1500.
The silver brute shown above first appeared on the sub-Reddit of /r/cars by user KnightsSoccer82. How the user obtained the photo is unknown but a quick browse of their Reddit posting history indicates someone with more than a passing interest in cars.
However it came to pass, it sure looks like this is a picture of the upcoming 2019 Ram 1500 on the plant floor of FCA’s Warren truck facility. Proving there’s no plate like chrome, the truck shown here has a shiny version of the new style grille we’ve seen on test mules in past spy shots, ditching the traditional crosshair look in favor of a five-bar style with a big R A M billboard in the centre. Twin nostrils, toned down from their current iteration on the Sport and Laramie, flank the brand name.

The hood seems to stand quite high, flared upwards like an inflated parachute or muscleman’s shirtsleeves during a flex. The ‘1500’ name and trim designation have migrated to the edge of its hood, leaving only the word ‘RAM’ on the leading edge of the front door. An large, blank expanse of front fascia resides just south of the hiked-up headlamps, an inversion of the drop-headlight look that has defined the Ram since it heralded the mini-Freightliner look in 1994.
In all likelihood this is a Laramie trim, given the vast amounts of chrome, foglamps, and parking sensors studding the front bumper. Sharp eyes will notice the six-lug rims, a +1 from today’s Ram, and the inclusion of towing mirrors on this model. The fuel-filler door remains in the same spot as the current model but changes to a square shape. Subtle fender flares cap the wheelwells.
Expect to see an official reveal of the 2019 Ram 1500 at next week’s North American Auto Show in Detroit. We will have boots on the ground bringing you all the latest news from the show floor.
