At the 50th anniversary of Easter Jeep Safari there are people from around the world converging on a town of 30,000 people. Traveling from afar has never been a shy point for Jeep enthusiasts, and to commemorate the 50th EJS in Moab, Utah, a group of friends organized The Epic Willys Adventure. The rules: no interstates, no GPS, no cell phones on the 2000-mile pilgrimage from Eau Claire, WI, to Moab, UT.
Eight Willys left Eau Claire, WI, on March 10, 2016, for the Epic Willys Adventure and drove 11 days on an approximate average of 35 mph trekking from the mid-west, across the plains, over the Rocky Mountains, and converging on Moab.
Omix-Ada, Max-Bilt, Pitbull Tires, River Raider Off-Road and Crown sponsored the adventure for the 15 brave souls (Phil, Steve, Adam, Tyler, Fryza, Missy, Will, Keith, Marc, Alicia, Kenny, Vianna, Sam, Christine, and a black lab named “Bilo”) that saw everything from sunshine to rain. There was one Willys casualty of the group with a blown engine before they were able to make it out of Wisconsin.
With the 50th Anniversary of EJS, we have seen all makes and models of Jeeps in Moab, especially with the crew assembled for the Epic Willys Adventure. Here are a few that you can enjoy their vintage, and rarity.
