Although we’ve seen concept vehicles, Mopar aftermarket kits, and custom builders create different versions of a Jeep pickup, today multiple outlets are reporting that Jeep CEO Mike Manley and Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed that a Jeep pickup will be offered when the new 2018 Wrangler hits the market in 2017.
Manly and Marchionne both confirmed to The Detroit News during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, noting in the report that both the Wrangler and the new Jeep pickup truck will be built in Toledo, Ohio, facility where the current JK Wrangler is assembled. Manley said the truck will be available in late 2017 along with the new Wrangler.
There are no details about this new truck at this point, however, much like there are no specifics on the power train of the Wrangler and whether or not the Wrangler will shift to an IFS suspension design. Surely there will be more news on the horizon, but for those who’ve clamored for a new Jeep pickup truck, now it’s just a matter of time before one will be available.
