NEWRY, Maine – After dominating its desert and short-course off-road race seasons, BFGoodrich Tires shifts from dirt to snow and delivers deep-freeze traction for the third Red Bull Frozen Rush event at Sunday River Ski Resort on Jan. 8.
Red Bull Frozen Rush is part of the Red Bull Signature Series, a progressive collection of action sports events. Once again this year, nine champion off-road racers compete on the purpose-built course, around obstacles, over snow-covered jumps and across the ski slope in 900-horsepower Pro 4 off-road trucks.
As the exclusive tire partner for this event, BFGoodrich provides technical expertise the custom, hand-studded BFGoodrich Tires All-Terrain T/A FR2 fitted on every truck that will tackle the slopes.
“When it comes to performance in extreme conditions and over unpredictable terrain, BFGoodrich has proven its capability in giving racers traction and predictable response. BFGoodrich enjoyed a banner year on the dirt and we are proud to join Red Bull as we throw some snow in Maine,” said Peter Calhoun, motorsports manager for BFGoodrich Tires.
The Frozen Rush competitors include several BFGoodrich Performance Team members: Bryce Menzies, last year’s Red Bull Frozen Rush champion; as well as R.J. Anderson and Rob MacCachren, both of whom captured season titles in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series. Other drivers include Scott Douglas, CJ Greaves, Johnny Greaves, Chad Hord, Ricky Johnson and Carl Renezeder. The competition will be broadcast live on Red Bull TV at noon EST on Jan. 8, 2016. As part of the Signature Series, a full-length broadcast of Red Bull Frozen Rush will air Jan. 30, 2016, on NBC.
BFGoodrich Tires will outfit all the race trucks with custom tires engineered from the Company’s championship motorsports racing technology and specially designed for the frozen race course. The BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A FR2 tire is based on the Company’s short-course race tire and then hand-modified with custom grooving and more than 700 specially designed studs to power through the snow and ice, ultimate traction and toughness. These tires will enable the trucks to soar across 50-foot gaps, hit multiple jumps, slalom through flags and blast around 8-foot-tall berms at speeds up to 100 miles per hour.
With its long heritage as an innovative all-terrain tire maker, BFGoodrich produces tough, durable, and race-winning tires that offer unmatched traction and excel in the most precarious winter conditions. BFGoodrich Tires boasts more off-road race victories than any other tire maker in venues where race tires must conquer a variety of terrains with consistent performance and durability.
The company that brings the performance for champion racers also transfers that technology to everyday driving for challenging on- and off-road conditions.
Launched in 2014 and engineered from BFGoodrich’s championship off-road motorsports racing technology, the all-new BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 delivers exceptional toughness, durability and traction for traversing harsh conditions such as gravel, dirt, rock, mud and snow, whether at work or at play. An all-season tire, the KO2 carries the “3 Peak Mountain Snowflake” symbol, indicating that it exceeds severe snow traction requirements. The All-Terrain T/A KO2 is currently available in 61 sizes and has sold more than 2 million tires since it launched.
On passenger vehicles, the BFGoodrich Winter Slalom KSI (Key Snow & Ice) offers better block stability for improved handling and wear, plus enhanced cornering and braking on snow, ice, slush, wet and dry roads. With its state-of-the-art profile, it’s the right tire for all types of cold-weather adventures.
Finally, the BFGoodrich Commercial™ T/A TRACTION offers exceptional traction to power light trucks through the most demanding roads and conditions, including most on- and off-road situations. Boasting an aggressive tread design, the tire offers an increasing biting edge and deep lateral grooves, resulting in superior traction.
