WPSA Racing Announces New Powersports ATV Tour
Successful snowmobile sanctioning body hopes to build following in ATV racing as well

The PowerSports ATV Championship Tour is split into two Series: traditional QuadMX and QuadTerrain Challenge. The QuadMX track features big air and is similar to a motocross layout. The QuadTerrain Challenge utilizes part of the technical section of the QuadMX track with the balance of the layout including specialized terrain and obstacles. Races feature obstacles that demonstrate the machine's and a rider's capabilities under race conditions. However certain sections will require careful maneuvering, or a deft high-speed touch.
As if additional racing opportunity wasn't enticement enough, the entire 10 race series will be telecast on ESPN2 in weekend, one-hour, midday timeslots beginning June 3 and will run through Sept. 10.

RACE FORMAT
There will be approximately one hour of open practice "hot laps" on
each race day depending on conditions and time constraints. A practice day may
also be held Thursday and/or Friday before the event for a nominal fee.
Qualifying is held in a round-robin format, where riders earn points in each of two qualifying heats according to their finishing positions. The top-15 riders will move directly into the final. The final five qualifying positions will be awarded provisionally to riders who failed to qualify with the top 10 overall championship points. If there are no provisional qualifiers, the final five positions will be filled by the 11th through 15th-place qualifiers. Racers can plan on at least two heats worth of racing, and three if they can make the main.
