1/4-Inch Drive Socket Set
I probably use my 1/4-inch drive socket set four times to one over my 3/8-inch drive socket set. The smaller size is great for getting into tight places, and even with a small extension it’s easy to use with one hand. Smaller jobs – like removing body plastic, adjusting controls on the handlebars or removing jets from a carburetor – are much easier than using a larger and heaver ratchet. You’re also less likely to over-tighten something because of its smaller size.
Axle Nut Wrenches
I’ve used everything from a pipe wrench to a giant crescent wrench and even a piece of steel that we notched out to the correct size to tighten axle nuts, and for the money and hassle, it’s well worth getting a pair that fits your particular machine. It’ll save you from chewing up the nuts by using something you just happen to have on hand, and they are thin enough to hold both the inner and outer nut at the same time.
