CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Katech Performance, manufacturer of race-proven LS engine packages and components, has introduced its Value 427 Short Block (KAT-A4684) for do-it-yourself enthusiasts planning their own 7.0L build.
The all-forged 427 short block (see end for complete specifications) is built to the exacting tolerances and standards of professional racing and assembled by the same technicians that produce championship winning engines for all Katech factory race programs including the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), SCCA SPEED World Challenge, Grand-Am Rolex GT and American Speed Association (ASA).
“Our Value 427 is the best budget-minded modular short block available,” said Caleb Newman, vice president, director aftermarket operations, Katech Performance. “Now you can begin your own engine build with the same Katech engineering and manufacturing expertise that has helped propel professional race teams to more than 50 driver’s and manufacturer’s championships since 1978.”
The Katech Performance Value 427 Short Block represents a unique combination of Katech manufactured parts and top-quality supplier components at a consumer-friendly price point. It is built with all forged internals – including Katech forged pistons, Katech-specified 6.100 Compstar H-beam connecting rods and a forged 4340-steel Cola crankshaft – wrapped in a Katech precision sleeved 4.125” LS2 cylinder case (double vacuum impregnated; 4.000” stroke clearance; decked).
Available directly from Katech Performance, the Value 427 Short Block sells for $6,950 (plus shipping; Michigan residents add 6% sales tax). Katech forged, hard coat anodized LS7 pistons are optional (add $280). For builders adding a nitrous oxide or forced induction system, custom Mahle pistons and rings are available at no extra charge (allow additional lead time of 2-4 weeks).
The sleeved LS2 cylinder case featured in the Katech Performance Value 427 Short Block is also available for individual purchase for engine builders starting from scratch. It is competitively priced at $2,999.99.
