John Deere Trail Gator HPX 4x4 - Off-Road.com

May. 01, 2004 By Press Release
Impressed by a couple John Deere Gator units we followed long-term, both in private and commercial agricultural applications, we were very interested to take a look at their latest offerings. Their new Buck and Trail Buck line of utility ATVs launched this spring, as well as several new members to the Gator family. With our love of the new Yamaha Rhino, we took special note of the only-slightly-tamer John Deere Trail Gator HPX 4x4. Their press schpeil gives us a glimpse: Never Go Halfway
A welcome addition to the line, the new Trail Gator utility vehicle adds a whole level of performance, ruggedness, style, comfort to the legendary reliability that has always run in the Gator family.

Standard 4WD system is ready for anything. Hydroformed steel frame offers unmatched strength and rigidity.
Full-Vehicle suspension makes for a smooth ride over rough trails, while standard brush guards protect the Trail Gator from branches and other obstacles.

We like the idea, and we think the timing is right. With ATVs currently outselling motorcycles, it's obvious off-road enthusiasts are looking for ways to maximize their recreation dollars. A vehicle under $10k that can work as well as it plays gives obvious great bang-for-the-buck. John Deere is long known and highly regarded for their tractors and lawnmowers - we look forward to bringing you an up-close look at the Trail Gator to see how this technology translates to a high-performance utility vehicle as well. How does it stack up next to a more traditional ATV for fun or hit-the-trail access? We're starting to see the new 2004's at Dealers, so we'll be looking to get our hands on one for the busy spring work & play season to bring you real-life testing before you plunk down those big bucks of your own.
