Team HRT - Journey to PRIMM 300
Team HRT, a new TrophyTruck team from Ramona, CA made their second trip to the SCORE Las Vegas PRIMM 300 race. Team Owners Todd Arthur and Donny Kerr did a lot of preparation to get to this point. Their sponsors and team crew all worked hard to get them to the race.
With a great start position on race day, Todd Arthur started third, moving up quickly to second after passing Garron Cadiente—who was having mechanical problems. Team HRT had an excellent run during the first part of the race. Arthur was running a strong second, and gaining on Corry Scheeler. The Chevy HRT Trophy Truck kept pace with Scheeler, and eventually passed him after Scheeler pulled off the track due to mechanical problems.
At the end of lap one, Arthur ran into some problems when the rear axle drive flange broke. Back in the race after performing some repairs, Todd Arthur drove the second lap flawlessly, and even had time to stop and help fellow racer Travis Coyne off a rock pile. Their best lap time was1:30:04--Arthur comments that “The Mickey Thompson F-C II’s had great traction and were key to us getting through this harsh terrain”.
On lap three, Donny Kerr jumped into the driver’s seat and ran strong with a minor set back of a flat tire and stripped lug nut. Shortly after starting on lap four, Kerr had some motor problems and that ended their race day. Kerr’s best lap time was 1:54:53 during lap three.
Team HRT was in the top 12 Trophy Trucks out of 23 at the end of the race. Lap four was the hard hitter for most of the Trophy Truck racer’s, claiming ten trucks. Six of them were lost during the first lap.
Team HRT has now learned more about what they need to work on to get this new Trophy Truck to be a Top Finisher. Back at the shop, the Trophy Truck is getting prepped for the next race. Be on the look out for the yellow Team HRT Trophy Truck as they return to the desert for more off-road racing action.
